They have launched an updated version of the ‘Putting the ‘e’ into Business’ CD-ROM. An entirely new section called Safe and Legal, covers detailed advice and guidance on online trading and advertising law. This section is packed with crucial information covering areas such as cooling off periods, electronic contracting and whose law will apply to cross border trade. In addition there is an online trading and advertising checklist, and a useful links section. The CD also contains an extensive resources section with a wide range of information to help businesses launch or refine their online activities. The CD also contains video stories of businesses who have successfully used e-commerce to reach international markets, drive down costs and attract new customers. Allyson Brinsford, Trading Standards, said: Hazel Prior-Sankey, Portfolio holder for Care & Safety Policy Committee commented ”One of the Council’s priorities for this year is to help develop a sustainable local economy and to promote the extension and up-take of e-commerce in Somerset.; this CD makes a major contribution to these aims. This is an area which is quickly increasing as more consumers have confidence in the security of purchasing over the internet.” |
