Fla.–The Florida Department of Citrus is threatening to sue Procter & Gamble, one of the largest U.S. consumer products companies, over alleged deceptive advertising practices for Sunny Delight, its popular orange-flavored beverage. Bob Crawford, the department’s executive director, said Wednesday the department has set aside $600,000 in next year’s budget to pursue legal action against the company. The lawsuit would seek to bar Procter & Gamble from using marketing practices that citrus officials claim misrepresent Sunny Delight as a mostly juice or all-juice beverage. Crawford told the Florida Citrus Commission he will meet next week with Bill Bryant, a Tallahassee attorney, to discuss details on litigation against the Cincinnati-based company. |
