Consumer Protection Council revamped

Himachal Pradesh Government has reconstituted the state Consumer Protection Council to safeguard the interests of the consumers.Till the regular election of the council, a 23 -member ad hoc committee was set up with Shiv Dutt Bhardwaj as its chairman. K. C. Verma would be the patron. P. R. Verma (Ghumarwin) was elected senior vice-president while Vinod Sharma (Shimla) and Ajeet Khar would be vice-presidents.According to the newly elected secretary of the council Ranjeet Singh, the council would create awareness among the consumers about their rights. He said in the present economic scenario, the most exploited lot was the consumers. He said the council would not only protect the rights of the consumer, but would fight the legal battle to save them from exploitation. Source : indianexpress.com |
